Prepare for your Pet

• Make sure your pets have their identification/rabies tags on before you leave.

• Provide Pet Sitter Identification Chip information if applicable.

• Show Pet Sitter where the leashes and pet carriers are kept.

• Ensure that there is enough food for the time you will be away.

• Show Pet Sitter food storage location.

• Show Pet Sitter acceptable treats and their location.

• Show Pet Sitter medications – provide written instructions on how to administer.

• Make sure your veterinarian has your Pet Sitters information.

• Leave a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case your pet needs treatment.

Prepare for your home

• Provide Pet Sitter house key, garage door opener, security code for property access.

• Inform Pet Sitter of anything that is out of the ordinary.

• Inform Pet Sitter of any persons that have access to your home during the visit schedule.

• Make sure Pet Sitter knows where and how to operate your thermostat.

• Set your thermostat on a comfortable temperature for your pets while you’re gone.

• Secure your yard, doggie doors, and lock any gates.

• Put dangerous items and fragile items that can be broken out of your pets reach.

• Show Pet Sitter where cleaning supplies are stored.

• Leave outside lights on if Pet Sitter will be visiting your home after dark.

• If you rent, give your landlord your Pet Sitter’s name in case of an emergency.

• Provide Pet Sitter your landlord’s name.
